Monograms at Sandringham

Queen Elizabeth has her own monogrammed terracotta planters with her Cipher at her Sandringham Estate ; this makes my beloved Guy Wolff pots seem downright plebeian!

Shopping Atlanta

One thing Atlanta is known for is furniture shopping. No trip to Atlanta is complete without visiting some of their numerous home stores. I think antique shopping is the local past time! One of my first stops after a fun lunch with noted blogger The Blue Remembered Hills  was to ADAC (the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center). One of my favorite shops was definitely Ainsworth Noah which carries a selection of antiques along with new furniture and art.  Loved this little side table made by Dessin Fournir , one of many brands they represent. Every part of this showroom you want as a little vignette back in your own home!  Another great shop was Holland & Co which has this lovely antique doorway leading into the showroom.  And what better place to get an architectural accent such as an antique door and surround than at my favorite shop in the world, Architectural Accents (which I've blogged about previously HERE ). Sophisticated Simplicity with Suzanne Kasler, Jeffrey Dungan, and a booksigning!

The great designer Suzanne Kasler is at it again with her 3rd book from Rizzoli, Sophisticated Simplicity, sharing more of her timeless projects. This new book looks at a number of her recent projects ranging from town to country, mixing high and low, and with a lot more modern than we're used to seeing from her! The project below in South Carolina had the homeowners taking Suzanne out of her comfort zone with their love of bold colors. Many of the projects however feature Kasler's signature of beautiful neutrals with light-filled interiors. The project in Maine, seen in these 2 photos, showcases the homeowners' love of blue &white and is what relaxed coastal living is all about! The Petit Palais, Paris

Across the street from the famous exhibition hall the Grand Palais sits its more decorative sibling, the Petit Palais.  Built for the Universal Exhibition of 1900 by architect Charles Girault in the Beaux-arts style the building now houses a magnificent art museum. We entered the palais on a whim as the day was hot and the ornate entrance was cool and welcoming. The interior was even more exuberant then the exterior and admission was free! Before touching on 2 interesting exhibits I saw as well as some of the general collection I'll share some pictures of the astounding architecture with you.  It may be smaller than the Grand Palais but this is not a small building!  The interior is light filled due to a lovely courtyard which floods every room with natural light.  Impressive right? Decorative murals decorate each space. A lovely view of the Grand Palais across the street through the windows. The ironwork on the staircases was astounding as were the mosaic floors....
